Bucovina looks different from two wheels. Not because you go faster, but because you're no longer in a box: you feel the air drop five degrees when you ride under the forest, you smell woodsmoke passing a sheepfold, you catch the wind in your chest when the hairpins let you out at the top of the pass. Here are nine loops that start and end at our gate. The first is eleven minutes away.

Why people set off from here

Most Romanian motorcycling guides send you to the Transfăgărășan and the Transalpina, five hundred kilometres away, for one good day of riding. We have Transrarău eleven minutes from the gate, the Mestecăniș pass at twenty-one kilometres, Ciumârna at forty-one. You don't have to ride a whole day to reach the good road: it starts in our yard.

And there's one more thing. These roads aren't crowded. On the Transfăgărășan you queue in the hairpins in August. Here, on a Tuesday in September, you can go half an hour without meeting a soul.
