Bucovina
The eight UNESCO monuments and the rest, with hours, fees and the road between them.
In Bucovina there are 18 monasteries and churches worth the drive, of which 8 are UNESCO world heritage. Below you'll find them all, with the year, the founder and the distance from Câmpulung Moldovenesc, where we write from.
They are not all equally close to one another, and that matters more than it sounds: Voroneț and Humor are a quarter of an hour apart, Putna and Probota two and a half hours. With one day you pick a cluster; with three you do the lot.
Filter by what interests you: UNESCO heritage, how close they are to us, or the century they were built in.
No monastery matches this filter.

Everyone hands you a list. I'll hand you a cut: in one day you cannot see them all. Voroneț, Humor and Moldovița fit comfortably into a single morning, because they sit close together. Sucevița asks for another two hours, and is worth them: it has the most complete exterior painting of the lot. Putna is a day in itself, not a stop.
And if you want one monastery and nothing else: Voroneț in the morning, before nine, when nobody is there and the light falls on the west wall.
Hours and fees change from one season to the next. On each page we say where we took the information from and when we last checked it.
