Mountain trails in Bucovina, starting at our gate

Seven ranges, 74 waymarked trails: Rarău–Giumalău above the town, the Obcine straight ahead, the Suhard, the Călimani and the Bistrița Mountains towards Dorna, and further out the Rodna Mountains, the highest in the Eastern Carpathians, and Ceahlău. Day walks, easy routes for families, two-day treks with a night in a hut. Every trail here carries its real blaze, its real walking time and the drive from our gate to the trailhead. And if you don't know where to start, ask us: we have walked all of them, some twice, because we forgot the camera.

What we tell every guest before the mountain

Why Câmpulung Moldovenesc is the right base for hiking in Bucovina

Few places in Romania have so many marked trails at such short distances: three start in town, on foot; Pietrele Doamnei are 33 minutes away, Giumalău a quarter of an hour from the trailhead, the old-growth forest 29 minutes. At La Cuib you sleep at the foot of the mountain, with a fully equipped kitchen that is yours from first light, a place to dry boots and a garden where you put your feet up in the evening.

And if the mountain is more than sport to you: Rarău, the heart of the country, a morning on Rarău, told in the journal.

Once you're back down

Sleep twenty minutes from the trail.

The whole house is yours: wet boots by the door, packs in the hall, a late dinner. Parking in the yard and an early start, without waking anyone.
