The installation was built by the German company Wiegand together with Construcții Montaj AG of Frasin. Wiegand has over three hundred sled tracks worldwide, six of them in Romania.

One thousand four hundred metres of rail through the forest, and the brake is in your hand.
You climb into a two-seat sled fixed to a rail that cannot let you go. A cable pulls you three hundred metres uphill, under the firs, and the further you go the less you hear from the car park. At the top, the cable stops. From there on it is all down to you.
The descent runs one thousand four hundred metres and goes through the forest, not past it. The sled enters spirals, one double and one triple, and the trees turn around you faster than you expect. There is a lever between your knees: pull it back and you brake, push it forward and you do not. A five-year-old comes down in eight minutes with it pulled the whole way. An adult who never touches it is at the bottom in five.
It is thirty-five minutes from our gate, just past Gura Humorului, on the road to the ski slope. Many come here after Voroneț monastery, five minutes away, and stay an hour longer than they planned.

150 kgPer sled, passengers included. Each sled has two seats, so two adults can ride together.
With the dog
welcome down hereIt is all open air, with tables and a terrace, so he waits for you in the shade while you ride in turns. Only people go up in the sled, but from the table he sees the whole track and gets water.
They ride in front, between an adult's knees. For many it is the first thing that looks dangerous and is not.
At 1.35 m they come down alone. This is where the real pleasure starts: the brake is theirs.
The speed comes from the lever, so you can come down at walking pace, with the firs passing slowly by.
The sled sits on a rail a few metres off the ground and cannot come off. It is closer to a little train than to a roller coaster.
The installation is built as a summer toboggan, but the best days are not in August.
The first day of operation. At the opening it was presented as a summer toboggan, next to the Șoimul ski slope.
July and August are the crowded months. On Saturdays and Sundays people gather from the morning, so come before noon.
May, June and September: a short queue, the forest in colour, cool air on the way down. The stretch we recommend.
The sleds have a protective windscreen and run in the rain, but the company has published no winter schedule. In snow and ice, installations like this stop, so call or check their pages.
