Vatra Dornei – Bârnărel Peak – Obcina Mică Peak

What the walking is like

A continuous climb through hay meadows on the south-western slope of Bârnărel, with views over the Bistrița valley, Neagra Șarului and, far off, Pietrosul Bistriței. Level with the summit, the path enters the forest along the crest to Obcina Mică, from where the red stripe continues towards Giumalău.

What else you can do on the trail

• The Vatra Dornei chairlift (Dealul Negru) shortens the descent: 25 min, 50 lei return, last ride up at 4 pm.
• Photography: sunrise in the forest and morning mist between the trunks; tripod recommended.

How long it takes, honestly

A linear trail: the time is one way (A → B). If you return the same way, add about two thirds; or leave a car at the far end / take the train. The duration is the one in Suceava County's official guide (Salvamont); the kilometres and driving minutes to the trailhead are from Google Maps.
